This is Not a Ghost Story is a cinematic "bio-fairytale" that explores haunting events from my life, interwoven with ghost sightings.
As a Maltese immigrant, I recount lingering struggles and experiences that span from my childhood to the present day. In this lyrical piece, I share moments that shocked, froze, and pulled me backward in time.
These episodes are connected to real ghost sightings, including one where an entity entered my body, leading to an exorcism. Yes, this is all true. Rather than a traditional immigrant drama, my family of nine is depicted wearing bunny rabbit masks as we navigate our new world, experiencing all four seasons while grappling with an unrelenting ache for home and a sense of belonging.
The entire film was made on an iPhone 11 and an iPhone 4 and uses Super 8 footage.
