A modern day Icarus attempts to navigate the entertainment industry while surrounded by those who seek to exploit his unique gift. Grappling with the demands of a life in the spotlight, he finds himself willing to do whatever it takes to earn the favour of the media. Set in a large yet soulless mansion, Flying Into The Sun showcases a world that is as claustrophobic as it is lonely for the artist at the centre of the story. His large white wings become commodified by those around him and in order to stay relevant, he begins to pluck his own feathers to appease the industry. The image of modern celebrity is set against classic Icarian imagery, with lighting and frames inspired by Caravaggio paintings, giving a classic feel to a modern story of an artist losing themself in the relentless pursuit of fame.
