In a quiet village in the Ural region, life is simple and uneventful for its ordinary residents—except for Lyosha, the local hearing-impaired "fool." Living in a makeshift house built from discarded materials, Lyosha spends his days drawing mysterious circles in the fields and tirelessly attempting to catch radio waves, hoping to connect with extraterrestrial civilizations. While the villagers ridicule Lyosha and his peculiar pursuits, their laughter turns to shock when the unimaginable happens. The being Lyosha has been calling for so long finally arrives, forever changing his life—and the fate of the village—in ways no one could have expected.
