Cinequest opens at the palatial California Theatre with a thrilling screening of The Luckiest Man in America. An all-star cast features Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Walton Goggins (Justified),
Shamier Anderson (John Wick), David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good
Luck), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), and Patti Harrison (Together
Together).
Based on a true story, The Luckiest Man in America is set in May 1984, when an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio steps onto the game show Press Your Luck harboring a big secret: the key to endless amounts of money. His winning streak is threatened when the bewildered executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.
Renowned for decades as the bastion to discover the
technologies that evolve film making and distribution, Cinequest has been
nicknamed The Future of Film. It is fitting that Cinequest, in
ground-zero for AI, has embraced the potential and powers of AI Film and
Creativity while keeping an eye on the issues all disruptive innovations
bring. Presenting the Best-of the MIT AI Filmmaking Challenge: Prior
to the Opening Night Screening, Cinequest will showcase the winners of the
hottest film challenge around. MIT’s renowned AI Filmmaking Hackathon
challenges global artists to the theme of Dance in Life. AI short films and a
conversation with their artists and innovators will kick-off Cinequest with bravado.
Conversation will unveil how AI empowered (or challenged) film makers to create
their visions.
All Access Pass holders and Party & Screening ticket holders will continue the celebration post-screening with an Opening Night Party of food, drink, music and sharing at the spectacular Glass House events venue. Thank you Glass House for your exceptional support of Cinequest and all the artists and audiences that gather annually in your beautiful venue to celebrate film, art, tech, and community.
