Description

This essay film on photography shows the passage of time with the ageing of the photographic material itself. B&W photographs of the closed Fotokemika factory, which produced photographic paper and films, are taken on photographic negatives that were once produced in that factory. All materials expired a long time ago, many of them showing visible signs of decay.

At the same time, it is a story about the negative aspects of transition to a capitalist system, a story of the collapse of industrialization and loss of worker's rights and testimony on socialist self-management. In the second half of 20th century Fotokemika was the only factory of photographic material in south east Europe. It was established in 1947. and its decay started in 1992. after the fall of Yugoslavia. Once self-governed factory became privately owned until its bankruptcy. Today it is a ruin, only some parts of the former factory are used as crematorium for pets.
